3 reasons why that is not ok.

Last night, we were sitting at the table after a long evening of being busy, and Amy was telling me about how the High School girls are extremely immodest with their winter gowns. Apparently a coworker of hers lives by Granite Bay High School and witnessed all the high school girls wearing dresses and skirts that were so short their butts were hanging out. Kate was sitting/climbing on one of us and said "There are three reasons why you shouldn't say that! One, that is a bathroom word, two, you should always wear a skirt that fits you, and you shouldn't stick your butt out." I tell you, that girl is quick witted. The other night, she was making a lot of noise and not going to sleep, and I told her that if I heard so much as a loud breath from her, I was turning out the lights and closing the door. Immediately she said,

"Do hiccups count?"
"No"
"Coughs?"
"No"
"Yawns?"
"No, good night Kate!"

She rattled those off so fast, it caught me off guard. I had to run out of the room before I started laughing.

Tuesday night, Kate spent the night at a friends house and Sarah wanted to play Lego's so I grudgingly agreed :) She stayed up until about midnight playing with them. We had fun pretending I was the horse, and she was the knight saving princesses, and she was so nice and gave me lots of hay and played the piano for me while I was resting.

When it was late, I could tell she was getting tired, but I guess it is against her principles to ever say she is tired and go to bed of her own free will. So I said she could stay up for five more minutes and after a little bit she asked me how long it had been, and I said "3" then she went and set the timer for two minutes. The second the timer rang, she said "OK, good night, I am going to bed." Then she went upstairs and was asleep probably before she even got covered up. It was pretty cute because it is always a battle to get them to go to bed.

I took a picture of what she built. She wanted to build a lot of different things, mostly princess/barbie stuff, but I don't have any pink Legos, so we settled on Orthanc tower from Lord of the Rings. She wanted to do the battle at Helm's Deep, but I didn't have enough grey or white bricks to do that one. Here it is.

Cute girls Holiday 2007 Edition

We took all three girls to get their pictures taken on Saturday, as part of what turned out to be one of our most hectic days ever. It was all worth it, though, to get these great shots.

Finally some smiley baby pics!

Juliette has been smiling for a long time now and has even treated us to a few belly laughs. Up until now, every time I have gotten out the camera to capture a smile, she has suddenly put a very serious look on her face. Yesterday, I was finally able to get a few pictures of her while she was in a silly mood. As far as her current milestones are concerned, she started rolling from tummy to back yesterday, which seemed to make her very happy. She is also getting very good at using her hands. Oh, and people probably won't believe this one, but I think she knows who the words "Mommy" and "Daddy" refer to. George and I were sitting on the couch with her and I asked her where Daddy was and she looked over at him. When he asked her where Mommy was, she looked over at me. She did this repeatedly. I know, I know, everyone will say we are mistaken, but I really think she knows.

Here is a pic we took of Juliette a few days ago. She is really growing up and is learning to use her hands to grab things and play with her toys. She is very easy-going and happy pretty much all of the time. I can't believe that she is over three months old!!

Halloween Festivities-2

On Halloween night, Sarah and Kate went trick-or-treating with their cousin Tyler. We stayed out longer than ever before and the kids came home with an unbelievable amount of candy. At one house, Sarah told the person handing out the candy that Tyler was her husband. Kate got a very funny look on her face and then she said "No, he is not really her husband, it is just a costume!!" It was fun to watch the kids interact and show their unique personalities. Sarah was not about to miss out on any candy and walked right into even the spookiest of doorways. Kate was all about the decorations, taking her time to really check them all out and even asking some people about how they turn on or off, etc. Kate was a little reluctant to walk up to some of the spookier houses, but she always braved it in the end.
Juliette did not dress up this year, but she was still festive in her animal print outfit. She seemed to enjoy the night time walk and was very happy the whole night.
My mom made this great spider cake and a special cupcake for each of the kids. Sarah and Kate had kitty cupcakes and Tyler had a bat. This picture was taken right before we demolished the cake.
Uncle Pideon did not trick-or-treat this year, so he came over to get food and candy from us, of course. That is fine, we love him and if we have to bait him with food, candy and football to come over, then so be it.

Halloween Festivities-1

The girls have been excited for halloween this year, so when it was finally time to carve the jack-o-lanterns they were ready to go. I have a thing about the smell of pumpkin innards, it is one of a few smells that make me want to vomit (sorry, TMI...). Anyway, Kate and Sarah cut open their pumpkins and scooped out the insides, they did a good job. Juliette watched them the whole time and was very interested in what they were doing. Sarah worked very hard on her jack-o-lantern and she carved it all by herself. Kate needed a little help with the carving, but she did all of the tracing of the design and the prep work by herself.

Here is a picture of "Super Girl" Sarah in her Halloween parade at school. All of the kids looked great and they had fun marching with the drumline from Granite Bay HS. Since Little Orchard Preschool does not celebrate specific holidays, Kate did not get to wear her costume to school, but she still looked festive!!

Sarah LOSES her first lost tooth.

In a sad turn of events, that I forgot to post last time. Sarah actually lost her tooth after she had lost it from her mouth. She wanted to put it in a tooth pouch, but we didn't have one, so she put it in a baggie, and she went upstairs to put it under her pillow. I heard sobbing from upstairs so I went to check and she was crying: "I lost my tooth..." She wanted to wash it off with her toothbrush before putting it under her pillow, and she dropped it down the sink. I opened the sink to see if it was in the trap, but it wasn't, the tooth is pretty small and hollow, so it just flushed right down the sink. So she didn't have a tooth to put under her pillow, so there was nothing to trade with the tooth fairy. :(

Sunday

Sarah loses her first tooth!

Here is Sarah's first lost tooth. It is pretty small and hollow...
Here is what her smile looks like now. She had a tooth growing in behind her loose one, instead of underneath it. She has a few other loose teeth and I think she will have lost all her front primary teeth by Christmas. Only one question remains... will she still have an extra tooth???

...and playing Lucky Ducks.
But she mastered that and is now too cool to play that game.

So she wanted to eat some cereal...
Which she learned from her big sister

Here is Sarah playing PerfectionAmy had a performance at a formal dinner, so we got dolled up.

It was fun. Good night.

Sarah and Kate's Sleepover

Last Friday night the girls each had a friend over to spend the night. Sarah invited her friend Makayla and Kate invited Paige. The evening was supposed to start around 5:00 pm when I planned to go and pick up Makayla from her house and George would be picking up Kate and Paige from preschool. Anyway, Sarah and Makayla made other plans and decided that Makayla would wait for the bus at school with Sarah so they could start the party a little early. Coincidentally, Sarah's bus was late that day, so it was not until after Makayla's mom had been to the office (and everywhere else except the bus area) looking for her that they came to the office to see what was going on with the bus. So, it was about half an hour after school was over that I got a call from the office that Sarah and Makayla were there waiting for me!! I was in the middle of the final prep for the party, and was expecting that Sarah would be arriving home any minute, and this totally stressed me out because I thought for sure that there had been a miscommunication and that I really was supposed to pick them up. Luckily, my mom was on her way over and came to stay with Juliette (who had just started her nap) and work on getting the
bedroom ready for the party. Thanks, mom!! Thanks dad, too!! So I went to pick up the girls and after talking to Makayla's mom I found out that I was right about the plan and that the girls just decided to make a new one without telling us. So, we got home and I finished cleaning up their room and the evening went much more smoothly from there. All the girls played upstairs with dolls and dress-up stuff before dinner. Then they all ate pizza. After dinner, everyone decorated cookies with icing and sprinkles. Of course, Kate had more icing than cookie in most cases. Cookie decorating took up a surprising amount of time, so pretty soon they all put on pajamas and watched a movie. After the movie, everyone except Kate was pretty tired, so they all went to bed. Makayla and Sarah were asleep by 11pm but Kate and Paige were up talking and laughing until all hours of the night. In the morning, they all chose their own toppings for their "baggie eggs" as we like to call them. We all had a great time.
